This policy explains what personal data Gasguard collects when you visit gasguard.org, buy a sensor, use the Gasguard app or web dashboard, or subscribe to monitoring, and how we use it. We follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.

1. Who we are

2. What personal data we collect

We collect only what we need to sell you sensors, deliver them and run the monitoring service.

The Bluetooth sensor sends readings only to the app on your phone. Readings from 4G and NB-IoT sensors are sent over a mobile network to our servers so you can view them from anywhere and receive alerts.

We do not collect special categories of data, such as health information, and we do not track your precise location.

3. How we use your data and our legal basis

GDPR requires a legal basis for each use of your data. Ours are set out below.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Who we share your data with

We share data only with service providers who help us run Gasguard. They may use it only to provide their service to us.

If you are a business customer and you add staff to your account, those users can see the bottles and readings on that account. If you bought through a gas distributor, we may tell that distributor which sensors are active and their gas levels, but only where you have agreed to this.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it, for example to Revenue or in response to a court order.

5. Transfers outside the EU

Some providers, such as Stripe, Apple and Google, may process data in the UK, the US or elsewhere outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is covered by an EU adequacy decision or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data is encrypted in transit between your sensor, the app and our servers. Passwords are stored encrypted, and access to customer data is limited to people who need it to run the service. No system is completely secure, but if a breach puts your rights at risk we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

You have the right to:

• see the personal data we hold about you and get a copy
• correct data that is wrong or incomplete
• have your data deleted, unless we must keep it by law
• restrict or object to how we use it, including for marketing
• receive your data in a portable format
• withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To use any of these rights, email info@gasguard.org. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.

9. Cookies

The gasguard.org website uses only the cookies needed for it to work, plus [ANALYTICS TOOL, IF ANY] to count visits. Stripe sets its own cookies on the checkout page to process payments securely and prevent fraud. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though checkout may not work without Stripe's.

10. Children

Gasguard is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will email account holders before it takes effect.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, or at dataprotection.ie. Customers in Northern Ireland can also contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

These terms apply when you buy a Gasguard sensor or monitoring plan from gasguard.org, and when you use the Gasguard app or web dashboard. Please read them before you order. By placing an order you agree to them.

1. About us and these terms

Gasguard is a trading name of [LEGAL NAME OF BUSINESS OR SOLE TRADER], [ADDRESS], Ireland. Contact: info@gasguard.org.

If you buy as a consumer, meaning for personal use rather than for a business, you have legal rights under Irish law (and Northern Ireland law, if you live there). Nothing in these terms takes away those rights. Where a section applies only to consumers or only to business customers, it says so.

2. Orders, prices and payment

• Your order. Your order is accepted when we email you a confirmation. If we can't supply what you ordered, we will tell you and refund you in full.
• Prices. Prices are in euro and shown on the website at the time you order. We are not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added. Postage is shown separately at checkout.
• Payment. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. For a monitoring plan, you authorise us to charge your card at the start of each monthly or yearly billing period until you cancel.
• Order limits. Bluetooth sensors are limited to 2 per order and are intended for household use.
• Ownership. A sensor becomes yours once we have received payment for it.

3. Delivery

We post orders with An Post to addresses in Ireland and Northern Ireland. We aim to dispatch within [3] working days of your order, and we will deliver within 30 days at the latest. Delivery times quoted by An Post are estimates. If your order is lost or arrives damaged, tell us within 7 days and we will replace it or refund you.

4. Monitoring plans

4G and NB-IoT sensors need an active monitoring plan, one per sensor, to send readings and alerts. The plan covers mobile data for the sensor, the app and web dashboard, and low-gas alerts. Bluetooth sensors need no plan.

• Billing. Plans are billed in advance, either monthly or yearly, starting on the day you order. They renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
• Yearly plans. We will email you at least 14 days before a yearly plan renews.
• Cancelling. You can cancel at any time through the customer portal link in your receipt email, or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and the sensor keeps working until then. We do not refund part-used periods, except as set out in section 5.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it and email you to update your card. If it is still unpaid after [14] days, we may pause remote monitoring until payment is made.
• Price changes. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email of any price change. If you don't accept it, you can cancel before it takes effect.
• After cancelling. The sensor will stop sending readings remotely. It remains yours, and you can restart a plan at any time.

5. Changing your mind (consumers)

As a consumer buying online, you can cancel your order within 14 days without giving a reason.

• Sensors. The 14 days start on the day you receive the sensor. Tell us by email, then return the sensor in good condition within 14 days of telling us. We will refund the sensor price and the standard postage you paid, within 14 days of getting the sensor back. You pay the cost of returning it.
• Monitoring plans. The 14 days start on the day you order. Because the plan starts straight away at your request, if you cancel within 14 days we will refund what you paid less a proportionate amount for the days already used.
• No coverage. If a 4G or NB-IoT sensor can't connect at your location, tell us within 14 days. We will refund the sensor, the plan and the return postage.

6. Faulty sensors

If a sensor is faulty or not as described, you have rights under Irish consumer law. For a consumer, we are responsible for faults that appear within 2 years of delivery. Within the first 30 days you can choose a full refund. After that, we will repair or replace the sensor, or refund you if that isn't possible.

This does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidents, water damage beyond the sensor's rating, opening the sensor, or normal battery wear. Contact us first, and we will arrange the return.

7. Using Gasguard safely

Gasguard measures how much gas is left in a bottle. It is not a gas leak detector, a carbon monoxide alarm or a safety device. It does not replace gas safety checks, a carbon monoxide alarm, or the safety instructions from your gas supplier or appliance maker.

• Readings are estimates. Accuracy depends on the bottle type, the sensor's position and temperature. Keep a reasonable reserve and don't rely on a single reading when gas is critical.
• Fit the sensor as described in the instructions. Don't open it, modify it or place it near a flame or heat source.
• If you smell gas, turn off the supply, ventilate the area, don't use electrical switches or naked flames, and contact your gas supplier or the emergency services.

8. The app, dashboard and alerts

• You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for the users you add to your account.
• Don't use the service for anything unlawful, or try to interfere with it or access other customers' data.
• Remote readings and alerts depend on mobile network coverage, your phone's internet connection and notification settings, and our servers. We aim to keep the service running at all times but cannot guarantee that every reading or alert will arrive, or arrive on time. We will tell you about planned maintenance where we can.
• We may update the app and dashboard to improve them or keep them secure. We will not remove a core feature of a paid plan during a billing period you have paid for.
• We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, after warning you where reasonable.

9. Our liability

• Consumers. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.
• Business customers. We are not liable for loss of profit, business, revenue or goodwill, or for indirect or consequential loss, including the cost of running out of gas or of lost trading. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.
• For everyone. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

10. Business customers and distributors

If you buy for a business, sections 5 and 6 on consumer rights do not apply. Faulty sensors are covered by a 12-month warranty: we will repair, replace or refund at our choice. Distributors and resellers are supplied under a separate written agreement, which takes priority over these terms where they differ.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes in the law or our service. The version on this page when you order applies to that order. For monitoring plans, we will email you at least 30 days before a change that affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in the courts of Northern Ireland, and you keep the protections of local law.

If you have a complaint, please email info@gasguard.org first, and we will reply within 5 working days. If we can't resolve it, you can contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (ccpc.ie) for advice, or use the Small Claims procedure in the District Court.
